warpaint, an other girl band (3 to 4), from los angeles, with the ep 'exquisite corpse' at rough trade, playing psychedelic, melodramatic popular song. watch stars and elephants, my two favorite songs, or just click on the play button, while watching some photos of Grappe Frogg, and his portfolio.
back after a long time. at least, i come with good news. army time comes to the end, the big end. only 8 days, and 34 days off. and the big news, i am accepted to the msc in UCL, the one i wanted, so from september, London for me. this period of inactivity, i have seen many things and i will try to remember them in the next posts. to start, these three last weeks i have seen the 5 seasons of 'The Wire', the best one that i have seen so far. great script, photography, music, performance. and the way that the series come to the end, a 'not ending end', a vicious circle.. a must for sure. don't even think not to watching it. Holy Fuck are going to release their new album later this year. for a first taste, check Holy Fuck performing Latin America live on KEXP from the Bumbershoot Music Lounge.
at last, go behind the scenes at the world famous Maida Vale studios as Mary Anne is joined by Philadelphia dubstep producer Starkey, percussionist and producer Reso, and vocalist Anneka who try to build an entire track live over the course of the two hour show. and they doing it well..
'the third & the seventh' is an animated piece by Alex Roman that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces. sometimes in an abstract way. sometimes surreal. a neat film with beautifully edited, stunning shots of great architecture such as Louis Kahn's Exeter Library and Mies Van Der Rohe's Barcelona Pavillion.
hello. back again. i' noticed that my previous post was the first of the new year & there were no 'happy new year, etc ..'. so happy new year.
so, everybody is talking about these new puritans, their new album and that it is the first top album of the new year. i don't know if it is going to be one of the top-20, of the year or the decade (as thod proclaimed), but i know that i do like it. i like it much. dark and as inappropriate as it gets. first touch with their new video featuring 'we want war'. i thought i new this style, and i was correct. collider is under the production, a team that i had featured some months ago. so, let's stop talking, load the video, press full screen button and HD mode, turn the volume and the bass ooon, and enjoy . .
here is an other skate video. part of the movie 'Fully Flared', filmed for the Lakai skateboarding team by Spike Jonze and Ty Evans in 2007. sort of a documentary about skate, demonstrating the skills as they navigate through (literally) and around various exploding obstacles. a distinct perspective, something different, that upped the standards for skate videos. if someone wants to watch the movie, contact me
today, i find a new -at least for me-internet radio station calledRTS.fm. live music & video streaming, from two studios of Moscow and Berlin. RTS.fm represents tech house, minimal house, deep house, minimal techno, techno and electronica. u can be a member, only invites though, and listen sets on demand, leave comments, make friends, etc .. enjoy!
Special Problems, formed in 2007, is a multi-disciplinary creative studio with a focus on video, print & web projects, based in Auckland and London, but operating globally. It has some nice stuff to show, like the artwork for the new zeland's pop band cut off your hand. But, my favourite one is the music video of the australian band Jonathan Boulet, for the most identifiable track of the album.

i don't know why, but i have always been in love with the skate culture. maybe is the motion of the board, the freedom when u ride it, or the whole crew around it. or maybe is me, my unsuccessful attempts when i was a child. but, whatever it is, this video is one of the best and well directed i 've seen lately. made by salazar, a motion picture collective. (same tip as previous, see video in vimeo, hd is a must)
it's time for updates.. i have promised to try to write more, but 'miracles' don't happen? very nice video, and addictive song. fucking vampire weekend. (tip, go to utube site, hd version)
winter is coming here in kos. weather is changing. the first raindrops, the first really dark grey clouds are real. that's why i am feeling better. i am more of a winter guy, i think. watching clouds leaving, raindrops falling. spending more time alone. listening to more and more music. stuff like Hood-Cold House, Notwist-Neon Golden, The Middle East-The Recordings Of Middle East seem to fit my mood more now. too romantic eeh? i was never good at writing. cause i didn't have the guts? too shy maybe? but these days, i have the 'want'. i want to write, to scream all my thoughts. and i think all the time, all the fucking time.
Hood-You Show No Emotion At All
Can we walk in hope Into another new year Just to cast away the ghosts Or to have the time to again You said hold on to dreams But I know you don't try Cos you're innocent I know that you won't survive I heard the phone ring So late at night that I I thought someone had died Someone had died But your voice was full of hope Like it was on better days On clear mornings when the rain had left the sky I can't stand the thought of you alone Don't try to get close to Us because there's nothing But our souls laid bare Will we survive I know we will
winter is coming, weather is chaning, and i hope that i won't change in here. i don't want to change.
it's been time since the last time i wrote something here. thinking it's the period that we call between-seasons. in july i finished the exams of my school and for one week of sleepiness i was working for my main project. two weekly trips with friends, some good shots with my lc-a, and then comes the 17th of august. army time, obligatory in greece. and here is where shit comes. taking orders, no time out, and 'all the strange people of the world'. like not fitting with anyone. hopefully i have music, books, and series. and much time to think and speak with myself.
synesthesia by Terri Timely. "a condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color. a sensation felt in one part of the body as a result of stimulus applied to another, as in referred pain. the description of one kind of sense impression by using words that normally describe another". they are Ian Kibbey and Corey Crease. check their site, for more short films and music videos.
